Sara Karkowsky, age 89, of Plum, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2024.

Beloved wife of the late Michael J. Karkowsky for 57 years.  Devoted mother of Lisa Keefer, Michael I. Karkowsky, Christopher (JoAnna) Karkowsky, Greg (Jackie) Karkowsky, and Martin Karkowsky, as well as grandmother lovingly referred to as "Bungles" to Christopher Jr. (Charise) and Nick (Michelle), Connor, and Michael M. Karkowsky and great-grandmother to Oakley and Juliet, sister to Dorothy Mulcahy as well as an aunt to many nieces and nephews.

She was the daughter of the late Irvin and Nora Buckwalter and the sister of the late Irvin Buckwalter, Edward Buckwalter, June Mizo, and Marlene Ellis.

Sara attended Point Park College.  Sara's warm and witty personality was loved, especially by her husband Michael "Buck", and their relationship was cherished and admired by her entire family.  She had a life-long love of traveling, taking her to destinations such as England, Ireland, Paris and Hawaii.  She enjoyed going to movies and indulging in a post-show margarita with her friends, she had a knack for golfing, and fondness for reading medical journals.  Bungles' defining quality was her devotion to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, who all loved and cared for her deeply.

Friends and relatives will be received on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 from 6-8 p.m. at the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND ALTERNATIVE SERVICES, INC., at 421 Allegheny Ave., Oakmont, PA 15139.

A Blessing Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Plum Creek Cemetery.
