Stephen Matthew Dapra passed away on February 25, 2026 at the age of 47, leaving behind a legacy of strength, kindness, and courage. Known for his legendary presence on the football field and his gentle spirit off of it, he was a man who truly made every room brighter.
A standout athlete from a young age, Steve was a powerhouse at Riverview High School where he famously broke numerous football records through sheer talent and determination earning the name, AbracaDapra. His excellence on the gridiron earned him a full scholarship to Boston College, where he proudly wore the Eagles jersey and continued his passion for the game at the collegiate level.
Despite his athletic accolades, those who knew Steve remember him most for his heart. He was a man who never met a stranger; to know him was to love him. His circle of friends was vast, a testament to his caring and deeply loving nature. He was the first to offer a helping hand or would go out of his way to hold a door.
When he wasn’t on the field or with friends, Steve found his peace in the great outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and hunter who felt most at home in the quiet of the woods or fishing bass tournaments with the boys. Some of his happiest moments were spent at camp since he was a kid, where he loved riding quads, taking the kids for gator rides and the simple joy of sitting around a fire watching the fireworks with the people he loved.
Surviving Steve are his parents, Linda and David Dapra of Oakmont. His beloved and dedicated wife, Beniamina (Natali) and the lights of his world, children Giuseppina and Marco. Siblings Melissa (Michael) Orbin and Michael (Nicole) Dapra both of Oakmont. Steve had a special admiration and love for his nieces and nephews; Maci, Matthew, Nicco, Mia, Ava, Sofia, Sergio, Bruno, Nadia, and Saverio. Also survived by his in-laws Sergio and Giuseppina Natali. Brother-in-law to Claudia (Anthony) Orlando and Romana (Matthew) Cole. Nephew of Donna (Nino) Bemperad. Steve is also survived by cousins Jonathan, Elissa, Hali, Micol, Joel, Jason, Jonathan, and Ann.
All are invited to a Celebration of Life on Monday March 2, 2026 at 10 a.m. at Riverside Community Church, 401 Allegheny Ave. Oakmont, PA 15139. Following the service for Steve, a brief receiving line will be held at the church to offer compassion and support to the immediate family.
In lieu of flowers, donations and cards can be made directly to Beniamina for a future foundation in memory and honor of Steve.
Services honorably entrusted to the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND ALTERNATIVE SERVICES, INC., Oakmont.
