Suzanne (Suzy) Schafer Connolly

Surrounded by her loving family, Suzy Connolly of O’Hara Township, passed away on September 28, 2026 following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Born in Akron, Ohio, to Hal and Elsie Schafer, Suzy grew up in Fox Chapel and graduated from Fox Chapel Area High School. Following high school, she attended Ohio State University and remained a proud alumna and devoted Buckeye football fan.

Suzy was the beloved wife of her husband, Craig, whom she met in high school and with whom she shared 44 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a life centered around family, friends, love and laughter. Suzy leaves behind a lifetime of memories that will be cherished by all who knew her.

She was the proud mom of Christy (husband Stephen) Sandora, John (wife Julia), and Charlie (wife Theresa), and loving “Grammy” to her two grandsons, Jack and James (Sandora). Her family was the center of her world, and she took immense pride in the people they had become. She treasured their time together, celebrated every milestone, and was happiest when her family was gathered around her. She was also a beloved sister to Scott Schafer, John Schafer (1957-2011), David Schafer, and Katie Flynn, and remained deeply connected to her siblings throughout her life. Above all, her family was her greatest source of joy.

Suzy spent her entire adult life in the Pittsburgh area, where she formed a remarkable circle of lifelong friends and lasting relationships. She was known for her loyalty, her laugh, her fun-loving spirit, and the deep care she showed for the people in her life. She treasured her friendships and was always ready to celebrate, lend a hand, share a laugh, or simply be by your side when you needed her.

Suzy faced her battle with cancer with remarkable courage and bravery. Her strength and spirit throughout her illness were a testament to the person she had always been: loving, strong, and full of life.

She was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by her family, her many friends, and the countless people whose lives she touched.

Family and friends will be welcomed at the Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church, 384 Fox Chapel Road, Pittsburgh, PA, from 10:00am – 12:00pm this Saturday, the 3rd of October, followed by a service in the church sanctuary.
