Sylvia Jean Hartley Malone, 83 of Boalsburg, Pa passed away Thursday, March 14, 2024, in Concordia at Rebecca Residence, Allison Park, Pa.

She was born November 22, 1940, in Centre Hall, Pa, a daughter of the late Theodore Levi and Betty Ann Hartley.

After high school, Sylvia earned her cosmetology license.

Sylvia was an administrative assistant with the Admission Office at  Pennsylvania State University for over 20 years until her retirement.

She was an active and long-time member of both St. John's United Church of Christ in Boalsburg and Trinity United Church of Christ in Centre Hall.  She was active within her community, volunteering for Meals on Wheels, the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, a Bald Eagle School Pen Pal, a youth softball coach, and served as a parent chaperone for both the State College high school chorus and marching band.

Sylvia was an avid Penn State Football fan and was a member of the Penn State Wrestling Boosters.  She enjoyed attending the Grange Fair and biking along Rails to Trails.  She enjoyed traveling and visited Guam, Germany, Scotland, Mexico and Maui.

Sylvia was the wife of Ben M. Malone whom she married July 24, 1960, mother of Sharon Carrigan husband Joseph of Sinking Spring, Sandra Cronin husband Jeffrey of Verona; grandmother of James Carrigan, Bridget Carrigan, Marissa Carrigan (Eli Grunwald), Sara Cronin, Jeffrey Cronin II, Renee Cronin, and Eric Cronin; sister of Joseph Hartley wife Joyce of Phoenixville and Patricia Weber husband David of Littletown.

In addition to her parents, Sylvia was preceded in death by her daughter Susan Perry.

Sylvia's Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at 11 a.m. in St. John's United Church of Christ, 218 North Church St. Boalsburg, Pa 16827.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her memory to UPMC Children's Hospital Foundation PO Box 535240
