Tom Fusia passed away quietly on May 24 in Somerset, NJ at the age of 97 having lived a full, active, accomplished life.
He was married for 67 years to his childhood sweetheart, the lovely Elizabeth "Betty" Raymond Fusia. She passed in May of 2015.
He was the son of Dr Donald Anthony Fusia Sr and Aileen Larson Fusia and the brother of Dr. Donald A. Fusia Jr, Jack Lewis Fusia, Dr Joseph Francis Fusia and George Edward Fusia.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the US Navy in the south Pacific. He was a graduate of Bucknell University, a member of Phi Kappa Psi fraternity, an outstanding athlete in boxing and wrestling and was inducted into the Bucknell Sports Hall of Fame for wrestling.
He was a lifelong member of St Thomas Episcopal Church in Oakmont.
He is survived by his son Tom Fusia Jr (Lisa)and daughter Jan Fusia Rollinson (Paul); four grandchildren – Brittany Fusia Larsen (George III), Michael Ecker Fusia (Miranda), Kori Rollinson Rozar and Amy Rollinson DeOrio (Ryan); and seven great grandchildren – Evangeline Fusia, Lydia Fusia, George Larsen IV, Tomas Rozar, Luke Rozar, Riley DeOrio and River DeOrio
He worked for G C Murphy Co for 37 years, managing some of their largest stores, eventually being elevated to the buying division, where he spent 17 years as a buyer and manager of their New York City buying office.
Through his service in the Navy and his business career later he had the opportunity to travel to other countries including Brazil, The Philippines and China and lived in many different parts of United States, eventually coming full circle back home to Oakmont.
After retiring, he spent 24 years as a volunteer at the Presbyterian Home and the RCAC. He also served as chairman of the Kerr Museum.
Tom loved to play golf, bowl and paint.
Friends and relatives will be received at the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND ALTERNATIVE SERVICES, INC. 421 Allegheny Ave. Oakmont, PA 15139 on Saturday July 29 from 10am until services beginning at 11 a.m. with Father Jeff Murph officiating of the St. Thomas Episcopal Church of Oakmont. Inurnment will directly follow along with his beloved wife Elizabeth Fusia at the Verona Cemetery Mausoleum of Oakmont.
