Obituary

Victoria "Vickie" G. Chaney, 94 of Verona, Pennsylvania passed into the presence of Jesus Christ, her savior on Saturday, November 11, 2023.

Vickie was born on May 30, 1929, to Eva and Dan Gabor in Verona.  Her parents immigrated to the United States some years before from Romania.  Romanian was Vickie's first language, and she was always proud of her heritage, preserving and passing on to her family many Romanian traditions and filling the table on Christmas, Easter and other special days with typical Romanian delicacies.

When she was 12 years old, her beloved father, "Tata" passed away and so she and her five siblings were raised by their mother who made sure that her children had a religious upbringing by sending them off with some neighbors to the Verona Presbyterian Church.  During her teenage and young adult years, Vickie was very active in the church.  She also worked, first at Murphy's 5 and 10 and later at the local A & P Supermarket.  In all these places she met people who would become lifelong friends.

In 1952, Vickie married the late Daniel Roland Chaney who passed away on September 18th of this year, whom she had met in high school.  Vickie and Dan went on to have two sons, Daniel and Robert.  They spent the first few years of their marriage living in the home of Vickie's mother.  During that time, they were able to purchase a piece of land, two miles away in Penn Hills which would become the beloved home of the family for over half a century until, in 2016 Vickie and Dan moved to Seneca Hills Village.

Vickie was predeceased by her parents, Dan and Eva, her husband Daniel, and five siblings, Dan, Eva, Leonora, Sofia, and Charles.  She is survived by her two sons, Daniel (Alicia) and Robert, her two grandchildren, Sofia (Jason) and Christian (Kate), and four grandchildren, Rowan, Eleanor "Nora", Boyce and Magnolia "Noli".

A family committal service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday November 17, 2023, at The Mt. Hope Cemetery Mausoleum and Chapel, Penn Hills.  Interment will follow next to her husband Daniel R. Chaney. Arrangements entrusted to BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND ALTERNATIVE SERVICES, INC., Oakmont.
