Virginia A. Humphrey

d. December 24, 2025

Penn Hills

Virginia A. Humphrey, age 80, residing at Concordia at Cabot, Concordia Lutheran Ministries, and formerly of Penn Hills, passed away peacefully on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2025. She was the daughter of the late Henry and Jessie (Berthold) Pearce. Beloved wife of 60 years to William A. Humphrey. Loving mother of William “Bill” (Dawn) Humphrey and Peter (Terri) Humphrey. Grandmother of William Arthur and Nathan Richard Henry (Bill & Dawn), and Rachel Marie and Joshua Paul (Peter & Terri)

She is preceded in death by sister Carol Quinn; and an infant brother, Henry Joseph. Surviving siblings are Priscilla (Dell, formerly Campbell), John "Jack" (Katherine), Thomas (Sandy), and David (Susan) Pearce.

Virginia was a true blessing to all who knew her, as she had a heart of gold, the voice of an angel, and exhibited the love of Christ in all that she did. She was creative and artistic with a passion for crafts, sewing, and baking. Her passion for the Lord was evident through her extensive involvement in the church, having served as a Sunday School teacher, lengthy service as church secretary, significant involvement in the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) and choir member. She took great delight in regularly participating in the Little Lamb “pen pal” program that connected church members with preschool children and was a strong advocate for the Redeemer Lutheran School. She also was an avid supporter of Concordia Lutheran Ministries and served a lengthy tenure on the Board of Directors.

She was well known for being caring and compassionate to all. Whether it was in simply going above and beyond for her family and friends, caring for her sons’ friends as if there were her own and being lovingly referred to by them as “Mom”, befriending new members of the church and inviting those without family locally to holiday meals, and in everyday interactions, her love, kindness, and compassion were evident in all that she did.

Friends and family will be received on Tuesday December 30, 2025 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND ALTERNATIVE SERVICES, INC. at 421 Allegheny Ave., Oakmont, PA 15139.
